The North Eastern Centre for Education is actively engaged in advancing public health and well-being through a wide spectrum of initiatives. These include awareness campaigns, advocacy, and research in medicine and nutrition, with a strong focus on mother and child health (MCH), reproductive and child health (RCH), and adolescent, reproductive, and sexual health (ARSH). The Centre also promotes healthcare for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, works towards the control and prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and supports national programs to combat communicable diseases like malaria, leprosy, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS. In addition, it organizes health camps, blood donation drives, promotes organ donation, and contributes to food security and improved nutrition, including through supplementing the mid-day meal scheme and de-worming initiatives
The Centre further supports holistic and traditional healthcare systems by promoting Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH), conducting research, preserving medical manuscripts, and revitalizing local health traditions (LHT). It also runs drug de-addiction centers, palliative care units, naturopathy centers, and school health and hygiene programs. By building capacity through training health personnel such as Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and promoting Continuing Medical Education (CME) in AYUSH, the Centre ensures the sustainability and reach of its health interventions. Collectively, these efforts contribute significantly to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-being, ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
By nurturing every stage of life through holistic care, research, and traditional wisdom, the North Eastern Centre for Education champions a healthier, stronger society—fulfilling the promise of well-being for all under Sustainable Development Goal 3.
